What's Behind A Name?
Nick and I recently experienced a first - we were asked by a cashier, "do you have kids?" We simply replied, "yes" and left it at that. Thankfully the cashier didn't ask any more questions.
When trying to explain to people about our girls, I've found it easy to say that my "daughters have wings." Sometimes people get it, and others may need a bit more explanation. It definitely is a bit less brash than, "my babies died" or "I lost my twins." It is comforting to me to think of the girls, flying around in Heaven with all the other angel babies of my friends that are here in MI, or that I've met online.
I also chose this name because it's how I will forever be defined. I am a mother of twins, but they do not reside with me on earth. So I am sure that from August 21, 2006 moving forward, I will forever be changed and this will affect what I write about, my thoughts, and my feelings.
Writing a Blog?
Most of my friends and family are pretty internet-savvy. I'm not sure whether or not they know about weblogs, so I thought I would introduce them to it. A 'blog' is short for weblog. It's a very simple website that lets you journal online about who, what, when, where or why with no reason at all. The point is to have one place to check in on the "Nick and Christina" branch of the Kafkakis family without having to send (or receive) mass emails.
As a forewarning, most of my early posts here will probably pertain to how I'm feeling on a day to day or week by week basis. Eventually, you may find stories about how Gracie ate ANOTHER pair of my favorite shoes or how Chloe is such a doggie diva. And, in time, you may hear about our experience with starting our family, over again.
